Braided America Heaband

Hi everyone! My sorority's bid day this year was America themed so I decided to make this cute little DIY headband just to look a little more festive!

If you are interested in making one for yourself here is how:

What you will need:
  1. Ribbon- Pick whatever texture/thickness you please. The one I am using in this tutorial 3.3 X 9.1 mm
  2. Brads- The star ones I am using are from Michaels
  3. Scissors
  4. Safety Pin or tape - Hold ribbon down onto whatever surface you are using to braid it
How to make the headband:
  1. Start out by cutting the ribbon to the desired length, I suggest using about two to three times the circumference of your head
  2. Cut six pieces of ribbon, two of each color, the same size
  3. Tie the ribbons together and either safety pin to your pants, or tape to a sturdy surface
  4. Begin braiding the ribbons as if you were bradding your hair
  5. Once you have finished braiding measure the headband and and trim off excess ribbon. I decided to leave some of the ribbon hanging to create a boho effect
Adding the brads
  1. Decide what order and colors you want to be in your headband
  2. Find a hole between braids and stick the brad where you want it to go
  3. once you have it secured in the braid, fasten it so the flaps are behind the headband (make sure they are all the way down so they don't poke your head)
  4. Continue this process, spacing the brads out evenly, I did mine about 1 cm apart
  5. Make sure all the brads are secure and you are good to go!
